The year continues to be a busy year for Rathbone Precision Metals along with many other companies. I want to Thank You for everyone’s patience and understanding as we work thru our orders. I certainly understand that the current extended lead times are not helpful, however nearly all companies have longer lead times currently. And like nearly all companies, Rathbone is doing what we can to increase staffing levels (lol – I hear you chuckling) however our region has a limited availability and its just another challenge.

Wow – what a show. First, I want to THANK YOU to everyone that stopped by the Rathbone Precision Metals booth and learned about the cost savings & benefits of using profiles. I would also like to give a huge shout out to the Rathbone customers who stopped by to say hello. With all the travel issues over the last couple years, it was great to see you in person.
This years show had 86,307 registered visitors, which is down from the last show in 2018, however it sure felt as busy. I think there may have been more excitement at this years show with all the challenges of the last couple years. The folks who did come to #IMTS2022 had the opportunity to meet with 1,816 exhibiting companies.
My quick take away from the show: as I walked thru much of the 1,212,806 square footage of the show, there was a lot of companies with robotics and automation. Yet, tucked away in booth #236331, Dan and Scott were telling visitors about the benefits of cold rolling and cold drawing, a process from the early 1800’s. Can you believe that a production method that old is still providing huge benefits to companies all over the globe.

#IMTS2022 – After the 2020 show was canceled, it is great to be back. The first two days were exciting as we had a lot of people stopping by to see Dan and I (Scott) at booth# 236331 in the North Building to learn about the benefits of cold rolling and cold drawing. Who would have thought that in a show designed to highlight all the new technology, that a technology from the early 1800’s can still be beneficial in today. IMTS 2022 starts Monday Sept 12th and runs thru Saturday Sept 17th at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL. . June 21st is one of my favorite days of the year. While technically not always on the 21st of June, the day is referred to as the Summer Solstice. It is the day the earth’s northern pole has its greatest tilt toward the sun and thus the most daylight hours for those in the northern hemisphere. Here in New England, we were fortunate to have over 15 hours and 15 minutes of daylight on that day. Of course, those above 42° latitude were able to enjoy even more daylight. They say that Hammerfest Norway only has a 40-minute night on the 21st – is there such a thing as too much daylight?
I had the privilege of being in Sweden on June 21st one year, where the day is a national holiday. It is called Mid-Summer and they make the most of that day with numerous celebrations and events. Considering some locations in Northern Sweden are darkness around the clock in December/January, no wonder the daylight is celebrated. I recall during my visit, finishing up a round of golf at 11pm and I thinking how awesome that was.
No matter what day of the year or season is your favorite, I wish everyone a Safe and Enjoyable Summer.
